Grooming
Question: Am I required to show proof of vaccinations?
Answer: Yes. For the safety of your pet and the groomer, We do require contact information for your pet from your local veterinarian clinic. While it is not required, we do recommend all dogs be vaccinated against Rabies.
Question: Can our Pets be bathed in cold weather as well as warm weather?
Answer: Yes our mobile unit is complete with warm water, heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. Your pet is completely dried before leaving our van.
Question: How often should my pet be groomed?
Answer: The frequency a pet is groomed depends on a few factors. It depends on your dog’s breed, coat type and how much time it spends outdoors. On the average, dogs should be groomed every four to six weeks. If you prefer not to be burdened with daily brushing, your dog should be groomed more often. If you like to keep your dog’s coat trimmed shorter you may be able to get away with more time between professional grooming sessions or we can set up a 2 or 4 week maintenance appointment between grooms.
Question: Aren’t the fees for mobile grooming more expensive then going to the local grooming shop?
Answer: You are paying for a convenient, specialized service. Our service is performed in a much calmer environment resulting in less stress for your pet. They are not separated from your home all day. Their exclusive grooming experience will be completed in less than two hours on the average. Your pet will NEVER be held in a CAGE and will always be hand dried. In addition to that, you have the convenience of not having to leave your home or use your vehicle/gas to transport your pet.
Question: What are the benefits to our dog being your “regular” customer?
Answer: Dogs that are washed on a regular basis maintain a cleaner, healthier coat and their nails stay in better condition. Our services are designed to fit each individual pet’s needs and we provide your canine with loving, gentle grooming care.
Question: What are your prices?
Answer: Our prices are based on the breed of the animal and its overall condition at the time of grooming. If the dog or cat is in good health, of average weight, is groomed on a regular basis, and its coat is in relatively good condition and free from mats, then the price list will be a fairly accurate estimate of cost. Some circumstances in which additional charges may incur are excessive matting, shaving or stripping, flea dips, tick removal, behavioral issues, overweight pets, puppies or elderly animals, etc. Please refer to the prices page for more information.
Question: Should my dog have the anal glands expressed with each grooming?
Answer: Our groomers will check the anal glands as part of the regular grooming service and will only express them if needed. Animals naturally express these glands during normal everyday functions and they should not be hand manipulated unless necessary as this may cause irritation or infection. If the glands cannot be easily expressed by the groomer, or are swollen, we recommend the animal be taken to a vet.
Question: Why is my appointment scheduled in an hour time-frame instead of an exact time?
Answer: Scheduling with an hour leeway, for instance “between 9 and 10″ is the best way for us to provide quality service within a reasonable amount of time. Many factors contribute to the timeliness of arrival at the scheduled appointments including: traffic, weather, and how expediently each proceeding client is groomed. With this in mind, the groomer may be ahead or behind and therefore it is impossible for us to estimate an exact time. Each client is important to us and we do our very best to stay on time. Unexpected events do arise and occasionally the groomer may be early or late for an appointment even with the hour leeway. If this is the case, we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you notified.
Question: Why is shaving sometimes more expensive than a hair cut?
Answer: In many cases the animal is matted, has extremely thick hair, is excessively dirty or has other conditions which make shaving not only more difficult than a hair cut, but usually necessary. Stripping, especially a dirty, matted coat, also subjects clippers and blades to unusual wear and tear which can be costly to maintain or replace. In addition great care and extra time is required in an effort to shave the coat evenly and avoid cutting the skin with the clippers.
Question: My pet has a lot of mats, is it necessary to shave them out?
Answer: It depends on the severity of the matting. Minor mats may sometimes be worked out, but many times shaving or stripping is necessary. Severe mats can cause skin irritations and hide conditions such as hot spots, dermatitis, seborrhea, cuts, scabs, sores and redness. It is not unusual to encounter these problems when the coat is stripped from a badly matted animal and it is definitely in your pets best interest to address them.
Question: Do you use Advantage flea and tick medication?
Answer: We do offer K-9 Advantage flea and tick medication and Capstar. If you already have Advantage and would like us to apply it for you, we are more thant happy to do so. Keep in mind regular grooming keeps infestations to a minimum and most of our frequesnt clients do not need to apply flea medications.
